What are your health goals?

Most of us have a health goal or some of us have many health goals. Some health goals we've already achieved (Hey, congrats, way to go!), some we are in the process of achieving, some we just keep trying but can't seem to accomplishing a desired result (like those last 5lbs that just won't go). Can you relate?

Defining your health goals is an important part of the process. It allows you to be clear and honest with what's most important to you and why. Let's see, can you quickly name one of your health goals? Ok, very good. Now can you say how important this health goal is to you? Using a scale of 0 to 10 (10 being the most important) rank your health goal. A health goal can be:

  • I want to eat more green veggies, or

  • I want to have more energy.

What's important is to define a goal and why. For example, I want to eat more green veggies such as kale, spinach or other green leafy vegetables, because they're nutrient-dense foods, containing lots of antioxidants, minerals and vitamins because they'll help me stay healthy. On the other hand, saying, well because I heard that I should eat these, just won't cut it! If your health goal is to eat more green veggies because you want to stay healthy and have energy to play with your kids or to do what you love, then we're getting somewhere. We're now exploring the root of your why, which will keep you motivated and help you reach your health goal.

Some health goals can be broad and others can be more specific. A broad goal could be: I want to stay healthy. A specific goal would be: I want to lose 5lbs in 3-months by going for a morning walk 3 times a week and incorporating more green leafy veggies into my meals once a day (for example, green smoothie for breakfast or a morning snack, or kale side salad for dinner). It can be that simple. This is a clearly defined health goal, with tangible actions to help you reach it.

Recipe ideas:

Now it's your turn, give it a try.

  1. Write out your health goals

  2. Rank the importance of each goal (use a scale 0 not important - 10 very important)

  3. Why is each goal important to you?

Congrats, you have just defined your health goals!!!

"I would highly recommend working with Vesna. She is so motivating, supportive, and non-judgmental. After approaching mid-40s, she helped me realize, it may be beneficial to make some changes. My cholesterol dropped 30 points, I'm no longer taking medications for allergies, all with real food. She's encouraged me to eat healthier and helped me learn how to  truly nourish my body. I feel amazing and not as bloated all the time!"
